A Town Hall Meeting: Transforming Digitial Reference and Digital Reference Education
Key points shared:
Trend in academic libraries is consolidation of service points. Need to be jack of all trades in terms of reference methods/interfaces (telephone, email, chat, in-person, etc).
Ref and Library 2.0 – Libraries starting to collect and add user-created content.
Shift from librarian as searcher to librarian as evaluator. Many users can find information well but do not know how to evaluate information.
Digital reference is simply applying traditional reference services to digital delivery methods.
